Feminism at its core is a worldly ideology that focuses on gaining equality between men and women in all domains of life, work, home, sexuality, and law. Feminism claims that women are not equal with men until they can freely swap lifestyles and roles with men.
It is important to understand this world’s idea of feminism before we focus on knowing God’s design for womanhood.
From the beginning God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them (Genesis 1:27).
The Bible teaches that men and women are equally valuable. God did not design men and women to be the same. He created one male and one female with different jobs and roles.
Man and woman were created to be equal in value but different. This is why He created two genders.
Feminism has rejected God as the ultimate authority for life and instead says, “I know better than God about how to live my womanhood.”
Feminism falls prey to the same sin of Satan, saying, “I do not need God, I will do things my way.” When they reject God’s design in the created order for the purpose of their lives, they will not find lasting happiness and flourishing.
The Gospel elevates women to a level that feminism never could. Feminism has never offered a solution that the Gospel has not already taken care of. In Christ, men and women will find all the fulfillment, worth, value, and purpose that life has to offer.
The Triune God, equal in value, different in function, they are mutually in submission each to one another, created male and female to individually and together to completely put on display the glory of God.
God created male and female to complement one another, not to compete with one another.
In Proverbs 31: 10-31 one can find the 7 Key Aspects of a Jesus Woman:
- She is valuable
In other words, she is an excellent wife. The word excellent means courageous, valiant, noble, it even means warrior. The word for wife also means women. The context is for a wife, but this is the goal for all women.
Every woman is asking the question: Am I worthy? 1 Peter backs this up, “live with your wives in an understanding way, and show her honor.”
The worldly ideologies and lies of the enemy tell women that they are a commodity, something to be handled. Husbands, she must hear from you that she is valuable.
At the end of the day, women you ought to find your worth in Jesus. However, men, you are supposed to be an echo of the gospel to the women in your lives.
- She is trustworthy
He has trust and confidence in her because “she does him good and not evil all the days of his life.” He understands that they are on the same team.
When there is a conflict, they do not attack each other, they attack the problem. An important implication in v. 23 is that he would not be who he is without her.
- She is a hard worker
She is a woman who knows how to organize and handle business. One of the most often asked questions is whether it is ok for a woman to work outside the home?
Never underestimate the value of raising kids. The importance of that is over the top. You are discipling the next generation. This is not only the hardest job, but also the most impactful job on the planet.
This is a priesthood of the believer issue as well. Some women are working for the wrong reasons, and they need to reevaluate. Some women need to ask their boss for a more flexible schedule, and for some, the Lord might be leading you back to work.
- She is confident
Where is her confidence? In the Lord. She is in the Word daily and knows that she is His.
Satan spends billions to objectify women. He wants not to only blur gender lines, but at the same time say women, you are your body.
A father should remind her daughter that she is created by God, she is His workmanship.
- She is generous
She serves. Jesus is the head of the church, but women are the backbone. Fellowship Church could not do Sunday service at any campus without women.
- She is an encourager
Verse 23 says, “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.” Gates were like a city hall. He is saying that he is better because of her. Complementarianism is when a husband is loving his wife as Christ loves the church, when this happens, the world is a better place.
Women can be a lift or a lid for their husbands. Become an expert in his strengths, be his greatest encourager. 1 Corinthians 13 says that love does not keep a record of wrongs. Instead of remembering his mistakes, keep a record of the good things he has done.
- She loves Jesus
Men, God has given you an amazing gift in a wife. If you are married to a woman who fears the Lord, she is a tangible, living expression of God’s favor in your life.
The goal of a Jesus woman is to rest in the finished work of Christ.
