5 Missional Moves to Marshal Suburban Resources for Global Impact.

The world has a lot of turbulence going on in 2020 but rather than scaring Christians or causing them to bunker down, now is the perfect time to focus in on what truly matters. Believers are called to live on purpose and for a great purpose by ensuring that Christ is their life in every area, including their finances.
18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. – 1 Timothy 6:18-19
These verses have a lot to say about how Christians should use their money. Here are 5 Missional Moves Christians can make to marshal their resources for global impact.
1 – The Lord wants me to invest in my worship
You can tell a lot about a person based on how they spend their money. The heart of worship is one of surrender, giving of your financial resources shows that you have given your whole life over to the Lord.
2 – The Lord wants me to invest in others
You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving. We naturally give to those we love. If we are to live to bless we must be willing to use our finances.
3 – The Lord wants me to invest in my spiritual growth
This one may be surprising but 2 Peter 3:18 says to “grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Using your money to grow spiritually is an act of worship to God.
4 – The Lord wants me to invest in needs that arise
The biggest reason we as believers do this is because it expands gospel opportunities. As we give out hot and ready meals and Blessing Baskets, we open up doors to share the gospel. This starts by investing in physical needs.
5 – The Lord wants me to invest in global missions
Our money is not for us and to be used for our own good, we’ve been entrusted with it to further the spread of the gospel through global missions. Isaiah describes Israel as a light for the nations and that’s what the church is to be as well through faithful giving.
Investing treasure in the things of the world has no value because eventually we will leave those things. We need to look to what is ahead and invest in what matters and will last for eternity!
